There are numerous postings, research papers and studies that look into the relationship between Vitamin D and Alzheimers. Most that I read show that reduced levels of Vitamin D are likely to lead to an increased chance of developing both Dementia and Alzheimers. I know that mathematical studies show that scientists are disinclined to publish negative papers (those which would show no correlation) and so we only see positive ones, but I have come to the conclusion, at the age of 54, that I don’t want to find out in 20 years time that they were all in fact correct, that by supplementing my Vitamin D I have or could have avoided any deterioration in my mental capacity. I can’t find any scientific papers that suggest supplements are dangerous , in normal doses and therefore what is the downside. Here another paper from 2014 :-
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4153851/
which concludes that The risk of developing both all-cause dementia and AD was significantly higher in participants who were either 25(OH)D deficient or severely deficient in Vitamin D.
